Restoring Nature at Blakehill

The former RAF site was acquired by Wiltshire Wildlife Trust in 2000.
Blakehill Farm Nature Reserve as it is now called, is a key site which hosts part of the Northern farming operation. In order to achieve our conservation objectives for species abundant and wildlife rich meadows there is a strict regime of hay cutting and conservation grazing which the farming team administers.
This project will build on the projects previously submitted and continue to support staff salary, contractor costs and farming costs which will in turn allow the Trust to undertake the operations needed to protect and enhance the site.
The site is a favourite amongst conservationists for the living hedgerows, flora and fauna. There are areas which are not accessible allowing the snakes, butterflies and flora to thrive.
