Restoring St Thomas Church – Creating a New Community Hub for Finchfield, Windmill Community Church, Wombourne, Wolverhampton

St Thomas Church is a redundant mission school and church building located in the heart of Finchfield, originally built in 1875 and locally listed, but allowed to fall into disrepair following its controversial sale in 1998. WCC has purchased the site with a vision to bring the building back into community use and also retain its status as a place of worship. WCC has been working with the local community for three years to see this vision of serving the locality come into being, and has the full support of many local groups and individuals. The restoration project involves making the existing building weatherproof and serviceable for multi-use, internal alterations and the addition of a small extension. The Trust is being approached to fund the new extension (including accessible WC, windows to new extension and tea room, and plumbing to accessible WC and tea room.
