Restoring The Delft

The Delft is a newly purchased site adjacent to the recently restored Grimston Warren. This project will restore 20 hectares of lowland wet and dry heath in West Norfolk in an area integral to the expansion of the Gaywood Valley Living Landscape. Restoration methodology has been based upon condition surveys. The project will involve a major re-profiling of the site, in particular drains and ditches to improve habitat for water voles and encourage plants, invertebrates and other animals. The heathland re-creation will involve collecting and dispersing seed and plants from Grimston Warren. Scrub management will take place prior to the introduction of conservation grazing at the site, when livestock will be purchased and grazing infrastructure installed to ensure sustainable management.
