Restoring the Ribble

We have a crucial opportunity to purchase and restore Towler’s Marsh – intensively farmed land adjacent to our Hesketh Outmarsh Reserve on the Ribble Estuary. This purchase and restoration will bring 20ha of poor-quality grazing marsh into vital nature conservation management, providing exceptional habitat for a plethora of priority and endangered species, and enhancing resilience to rising sea levels. It also includes a 1ha cattle building we will utilise for grazing purposes. Purchasing this land increases the land area of priority habitat protected and managed for biodiversity, creating a climate resilient landscape and bringing an impressive new visitor spectacle.
