Restoring Warton Crag for rare butterflies

The aim of this project is to restore habitat at Warton Crag for threatened butterflies, primarily two endangered species – high brown and pearl-bordered fritillaries. We will do this by felling trees and removing scrub to create a more open vegetation which will encourage butterflies to breed and thrive on the site, thereby enhancing the wildlife spectacle for visitors.
