Projects / Revitalisation of Uffington Footpaths Phase 4

Revitalisation of Uffington Footpaths Phase 4

Our overall aim is to replace all possible stiles with kissing gates on Uffington’s recognised footpaths. The first footpath to be improved was FP 12, leading from the back of the new Jacksmeadow estate to the Uffington Fox Covert, in 2018. Phase 2 of the project was to replace 13 stiles with kissing gates on FP 387/18, 19 and 27 in 2021; Phase 3 made a similar improvement to FP 387/26 in 2022.

In Phase 4, we now move on to FP 387/4, which is the last of the principal footpaths in around Uffington, to be improved. As with previous phases, this will be of great benefit to many people, residents and visitors, old and young, who will find it much easier to use this FP when it has kissing gates rather than stiles. The project will involve replacing 12 old stiles with gates.
