River Darnwen Parkway LNR Habitat Improvements

RDP has three priority habitats: woodland, heathland and wetland. All three are degrading and in need of restoration to ensure that the mix of habitats and species remain on this urban site. This project will initiate the restoration and carry out monitoring to see if the restoration is working. A small area of heathland has been replanting in a trial plot and it appears to have succeeded. Open water will be extended where the ponds are vegetating over. The woodland structure will be improved with coppice retation and planting. All the work to be done with volunteers and contractors. Volunteers will have the opportunity to gain AQAs.
