River Sheaf Lightwell project

To bring daylight into the river Sheaf culvert which runs beneath the full length Sheffield Midland Railway Station. This one kilometre long culvert, built by the railways in 1860, is a significant barrier to wildlife trying to move along our river corridors.
The aim of this project is to open up the large sealed ventilation shaft on Platform 5, replacing the current timber cover with a grille which will allow light in to the river below.
