Riverside Valley Park, Exeter – Access Improvements

Our project will improve access features at Exeter’s largest (40ha) and most popular green space, Riverside Valley Park, focused mainly on the ‘Leafland’ wooded area. This will enhance visitor enjoyment and comfort for c. 280,000 visits p.a., motivating higher involvement in events and volunteering.
We will repair 330m of paths, replace a set of steps and adjacent kiss-gate, install a bench, remove a redundant kiss-gate, and replace 40m of deteriorated path fencing. This will make the site even more widely accessible, promoting repeat visits.
This site gives residents and tourists easy access to a tranquil oasis full of wildlife. Visits have risen as people managed Covid restrictions. This project will provide robust infrastructure as demand and impacts grow. It responds to local feedback on specific areas where access can be improved.
