Riverside Way Restoration Project

The project aims to enhance rare and important wildlife habitats and to improve facilities for visitors. Proposed habitat enhancements include: - removal of 40 trees and pollarding of 10 willows to increase light levels. - construction of flow deflectors using the felled timber to produce a more heterogeneous river, - installation of large woody debris to aid flow variation and create wildlife refuges. - removal and control of invasive alien species. Proposed visitor improvements include: - signage to help visitors locate and identify the site. - surfacing to restore an easy access route. - interpretation focusing on ecology and sustainable water use. - new bench installation
