Riverside Way Restoration Project

The project aims to enhance rare and important wildlife habitats and to improve facilities for visitors.

Proposed habitat enhancements include:
– removal of 40 trees and pollarding of 10 willows to increase light levels.
– construction of flow deflectors using the felled timber to produce a more heterogeneous river,
– installation of large woody debris to aid flow variation and create wildlife refuges.
– removal and control of invasive alien species.

Proposed visitor improvements include:
– signage to help visitors locate and identify the site.
– surfacing to restore an easy access route.
– interpretation focusing on ecology and sustainable water use.
– new bench installation
