Roof Refurbishment – Oakes Baptist Chapel

The project is to repair the roof and community hall ceiling of the chapel building which was built in 1864. The roof requires remedial work to structural timbers affected locally by wet rot and dry rot, repairs to the ornamental plaster ceiling of the community hall and reinforcement of a lobby ceiling built after a fire in 1998.

The works are essential to enable continued safe use of the building for community purposes including a popular mother and toddler group and Scout Group meetings.

The purpose of the project is to ensure the safe, ongoing use of the building which was extensively refashioned following a fire in 1998. The building now provides a range of flexible, community spaces that have been used for youth organizations, mother and toddler groups, senior citizens groups, a community cafe as well as public worship on Sundays
