Roof Repairs to Public Access Community Centre

To carry out urgent roof repairs and prevent further leaks in key areas of the building – the foyer area, halls and community offices.
The Glenrothes YMCA-YWCA (Y) is owner of the community centre at North Street, Glenrothes and the land surrounding.
The “Y” Board has been patching and mending the roofs for a number of years, but the roof fabric of the building upon recent inspection was shown to have reached a critical stage. With recent rainfall, water pours through the roof into dripfall buckets situated in the public areas and offices of the community centre. With the onset of winter the Board will have to take the decision whether to close the building to members of the public and groups, as there are severe health and safety issues.
The building cannot be opened during the winter if inclement weather persists.
Community groups and services face a closure in activity.
Funding is urgently requested to carry out imminent roof repairs.
Other monies have been sourced to match funds.
