Routes 02 HD4 Damside Road

River Holme catchment offers river access opportunity. Public consultations indicate routes are often poorly waymarked/unknown. Stiles, steps, undergrowth on some routes make access impossible for less mobile users. Excellent public transport networks make walking cheap/available to locals/visitors but guidance on how to access riverside routesis limited.

Riverside access to river related walking routes, defined/enhanced both physically and in digital format would improve river access. Route publication in paper/digital format will attract people to the area boosting tourism spend to the local economy.

Creating a strong linkage of footpaths around the south east of Huddersfield town centre will open the area up to a high pedestrian population. Alternative signposted routes away from the very busy road will create an enviable path network through both an historic and recently developed [to a high standard] part of Huddersfield, connecting to residential areas beyond and through to the town centre.
