To install a pit wheel and two colliery tubs in to landscape the derelict land in front of the community facility. The Order also aims to hold a mining exhibition at the community centre, exchange knowledge with young people from the village through local youth service providers and to raise awareness about the history and heritage of Cornforth. However, only the installation of the pit wheel will be covered under the LTCS. The site is currently untidy and derelict. Consultation was carried out with the parish council, community asssociation and local partnership, all of who believe there is a need for this feature. Local residents have also expressed their wish to see this feature in the village, reminding people of their mining heritage. Upon completion the Cornforth Community Association will maintain the feature long-term. The feature will attract people to the exhibition in the short term but also enhance the look of the community facility thereby encouraging people to use the facility more.
