RSPB Black-tailed Godwit Nestwatch

Black-tailed godwits are a very rare breeding bird and a UK BAP species. Only one or two pairs breed in the northwest of England, at Newton marshes on the Ribble Estuary. The eggs are highly prized by collectors and chicks are vulnerable to predation and trampling by cattle. We will run a 24-hour nestwatch project throughout the breeding season for this rare and beautiful bird.
