RSPB St Aidan's Nature Park - Keeping Common Terns Afloat

The project will create a new pontoon floating raft for the benefit of wildlife and to improve views for visitors. The raft will be comprised of 152 separate 50x50cm plastic floats which can be reconfigured into any shape and size to suit their purpose. The raft will serve as a tern raft during breeding season for Common Tern, in winter it will be reconfigured to provide a floating bridge to be able to carry out important reedbed conservation tasks.
