Runcorn Spiritualist Church – Exterior Improvements

The church was built in 1888 as a Methodist Church but now used by the Spiritualist Movement from 1908. The church is situated partially under the Runcorn railway viaduct pier. Due to its age it is in need of restoration and repair, internally and externally and needs detailed work to ensure it meets the needs of modern usage and to ensure that it remains useable now and in the future. Our architect, recommends a new kitchen, a new office, new windows, modernising existing toilets, repairs to walls and plasterwork, providing disabled facities, a new ramp at entrance to the front. The grant is to replace the two church windows which can be found on either side of the church building. The window frames are worn the plaster cracked around and the windows themselves are old and dangerous. Currently the building is losing a lot of heat as these windows are both loose and ill fitted. The grant is also to create a disabled access ramp and rail.
