Rushden Historical Transport Society – Replacement Floor

The shed was purchased by RHTS in 2017 and after extensive improvements is a community asset, used by societies and many local groups for functions and events. The lower area of the railway goods shed has a sectional concrete floor which was laid when the shed was used as a vehicle/storage depot. Although the original floor was coated and sealed, water ingress continues to break through. The absence of a damp-proof membrane under the original floor being confirmed as the cause. Additionally the floor has many uneven areas which are restricting its use and creating hazards.
