Ruskin Mill Hydro Power Project

The project seeks to utilise the pond overflow by a redundant water wheel adjacent to an 19th century water mill used as a community and craft centre to generate 22,562KwH of electricity per annum. A grid connected hydro power system will be installed together with an interactive demonstration system using the water wheel. The project will be permanently on display and easily accessible to members of the public due to its location alongside a public footpath. Clear signage and educational interpretation will ensure that visitors gain maximum benefit from Ruskin Mill’s hydro power scheme.
