RWBSA - Disabled Tennis Shelter

The project will provide a shelter for disabled tennis players to use in inclement weather, to meet before and after sessions, and for spectating during matches. Our Tennis Club has been proposed as the county wheelchair tennis hub and this shelter is essential to fulfilling that role. Additionally, the shelter would be used during children’s holiday camps and for parents to spectate during children’s lessons so it would have multiple purposes.
The proposed shelter, circa 40 foot long, shall half the space for wheelchair users and the other half containing tiered all-weather seating for spectators. It will be painted green in keeping with the site.

RWB Tennis Club is inclusive in offering tennis playing and coaching opportunities for all members of the community, and is recognised for its support of wheelchair users but to date has not had an accessible shelter for those players;
It is proposed that RWB Tennis Club shall be the county hub for wheelchair tennis, and the shelter will help support that and foster development of the county wheelchair tennis offering.
The shelter will be located adjacent to the ‘coaching courts’ and will also offer some seating for spectating of coaching/matches on those courts, and provide shelter for children during ‘holiday camps’.

The tangible output will be the improvement of RWBSA tennis facilities for support of wheelchair tennis, youth coaching, and pickleball spectating, i.e. improved facilities for all sections of the community.
