Saltbox Hill – Stopping the Scrub

The reserve is currently managed largely by conservation grazing, using a mixture of goats & ponies. However, there are still high levels of scrub encroaching into the chalk grassland that need to be treated and removed by contractors. The scrub out competes and over shades the chalk grassland flora below, reducing the richness of this important habitat.
