Salwarpe Reedbed

We plan to create a new reedbed reserve adjacent to the Barge Canal. The new habitat created will provide a significant new haven for a range of protected and endangered species including otters, water voles, birds, bats and great crested newts. The Droitwich canal corridor already supports a varied and complex assemblage of habitats. The reedbed reserve will help manage and sustain these wildlife habitats and create a new habitat. The project contributes to national, regional and local BAP’s; the Worcestershire BAP aims to provide an additional 60 hectares of reedbed in Worcestershire by 2010. This project will contribute 5% of this target.
