Sandiacre – Springfield Park, New Perimeter Footpath for All

The project aims to provide a new 740 metre hard wearing stone perimeter footpath on Springfield Park.
There are currently no footpaths on the park and it is predominantly used by dog walkers in all weathers and conditions. There is little provision or incentive for a greater number of residents to take advantage of the green open space unless the ground is dry. The park is under used and wet or saturated areas restrict the use of mobility scooters, buggies and bikes.
The use of recycled stone materials will blend in with the character of the area and it is a more sustainable alternative to quarried stone.
If possible, it is intended the excavated soil can be re-instated to build-up the sides of the footpath to aid drainage and avoid tripping hazards and wooden edging will complement the design.
