Sapperton Flood Meadows

Sapperton Flood Meadows lie in the bottom of the Sapperton Valley. It includes a section of the disused canal and the River Frome. The reserve is adjacent to Siccaridge Wood nature reserve. The meadows support a number of typical wetland species including ragged robin and meadowsweet. Roman snails are frequently seen in the meadows and otters are also known to use the area. The nationally scarce limestone fern has been recorded on the walls of one of the disused locks.
