Save Our Wet Grasslands in Derbyshire

Our project’s aim is to prevent the further loss of UK BAP species through the conservation and maintenance of flood plain grazing on one of our reserves, Wyver Lane.

We need to significantly improve the wet grasslands at this reserve so that we can support UKBAP wildlife and we will do this by:

Habitat management works such as dredging to restore open water
Removing non-native pest species
Effective seasonal cattle grazing (low density and timely cattle grazing is a proven and traditional method of ensuring now nationally declining wet grasslands are in the best condition possible for many species of wildlife. It is also aesthetically appealing to visitors, simple to deploy and more beneficial to the environment)
