Save Skiddaw

The main aim of this project is to save a mountain: we will purchase and restore Skiddaw Forest (3000 acres of wild landscape including Skiddaw summit), and create England’s highest nature reserve where people can become immersed in the natural
world and where wildlife will flourish.

Initial consultation has included many face to face conversations with farmers, voluntary groups, community leaders and partners. This has been limited to key contacts at this stage due to the need for confidentiality of the purchase until we are able to announce it publicly (5th Sept). 250,000 each year walk up Skiddaw, so public engagement is a priority. Going forward we will host community information events in our first year and engage the public in tree planting on a massive sacle.
