Seeing the Wood in the Trees: A Treetop Walkway

To build an accessible and educational treetop walkway. This improvement to the park will encourage more people into the arboretum for recreation and to learn about trees and the environment.
It will:
– Work with the contours of the land for a step free, accessible recreation experience.
– Improve access to the ancient semi-natural woodland which, due to a steep incline) can be tricky for people in wheelchairs.
– Take people on a journey through the tree canopy and give them an opportunity to learn about the environment in a fresh and enjoyable way.

The appeal of the walkway will mean more people can benefit from recreation in woodlands at the same time as helping them develop a deeper understanding about trees. This will help promote a lifelong love of trees and the environment, an outcome that will have a positive and far reaching effect into the future.
