Shaftesbury Park, Bromley - New Play Equipment and Pond Restoration (008303)

The project aims to rejuvenate Shaftesbury Park’s outdated playground and restore its silted and overgrown pond. The new play area will feature inclusive, low-carbon equipment and sensory features, encouraging imaginative and active play for children of all ages and abilities. The pond will be sensitively desilted, with invasive Crassula helmsii removed following guidance from Frog Life and the RSPB. Bankside trees will be selectively thinned, improving pond health and biodiversity. New dead hedges and habitat piles using repurposed timber will benefit amphibians, invertebrates, and plant life. This works will lift a valued green space in an area of high deprivation, promoting health, wellbeing and nature connection while creating volunteering and learning opportunities for the whole community.
