Shire Oak Heath Restoration Project

To restore rare heathland and acid grassland habitats on this newly acquired SSSI, which has been historically neglected and allowed to scrub over. The project will restore nearly 3ha of lowland heathland and just over a hectare of lowland dry acid grassland, and will bring the woodland and scrub covering the remainder of the 7ha site into positive management. Habitat management works will involve volunteers wherever possible, including activities such as heather seeding (using locally sourced seed).
