Sidcup Sports Club, Kent – Irrigation System (006208)

This project is install an irrigation system using a borehole to supply the water for pitch irrigation and clubhouse use. This system will not only be cheaper to operate but also more time efficient at irrigating the playing fields.

It will improve the quality of grass coverage allowing the community to make use of the playing fields for more of the year and allowing the clubs that use them to expand on their current sessions to increase participation.

An inefficient and expensive mains-supplied irrigation system has resulted in grass playing surfaces that are under irrigated, leading to sub-optimal grass coverage. Because of this, the applicants have had to limit the use of playing surfaces throughout the year just to maintain them to a reasonable standard for competitive play.
