Skate Island, Underhill

Creation of a Skate Park on an area of publicly owned space in Underhill, Portland.

Portland Community Partnership is supporting a bid by the young people of Underhill for a designated Skateboard Park at Parry’s site as there is little provision for young people in the area. The proposal has the support of the Borough and Town Councils, as well as the local community. The area is included in the Government’s Sure Start initiative, as over 52% of children in Underhill live below the poverty line. The provision of a designated site will encourage skateboarders to gather at the sie to practice their skills and will reduce skateboarding on roads and paved areas in the town. The site is not surrounded by residences so should not cause a noise nuisance
