Skelsmergh Community Hall Diamond Jubilee Kitchen Redevelopment

The hall was built by public subscription and local efforts to commemorate the diamond jubilee of Queen Victoria in 1897. For the current Queen’s silver jubilee in 1977, the community added a new car park and entrance and, in 2002, for the golden jubilee, a trust was set up to fully refurbish the main hall. The current project aims to make good the structure of the kitchen area of the building, which is now inadequate and in contravention of hygiene regulations and, to bring it up to modern standards by re-setting the slate roof, improving insulation, fitting new kitchen units, installing plumbing and elecrical wiring, dry-lining, re-plastering and decorating.
