Skelton Castle Cricket Club – Grounds Maintenance Project

To carry out essential maintenance of the cricket pitch and surrounding grounds by purchasing a heavy duty grass cutter. This will ensure the outgoing provision of the Clubs activities and enable the project to extend access and participation by improving facilities to a wider audience. Currently the running club, girl guides, brownies, local cricket teams and the local public house teams use the site free of charge to progress their activities. Within the clubs development plan it’s anticiipated that a Women’s team and junior section willl be progressed and links with the local schools and youth centre will be forged to encourage students to access the clubs facilities and extend partnerships. Cricket not only encourages healthier lifestyles but also encourages different sectors of the community to become actively involved in sport, eg. women, young people and the third age generation, encouraging community cohesion.
