Skelton Grange Boardwalk

To meet the increasing demand of public visitor numbers to Skelton Grange Environment Centre, we have recently created a new wooden outdoor classroom and nature area. The site is visited by over 5000 people per year, predominantly children and families, and includes people with mobility issues. We aim to keep the space as natural as possible since visitor consultation establishes that is what people value most, but need to balance this with maintaining functionality and accessibility.

A new wooden boardwalk amenity to connect the nature area and outdoor classroom will improve both the accessibility and aesthetic quality of this area, enabling access by wheelchair and buggy users, prevent the natural area becoming trampled and muddy and protect the fauna and flora visitors have come to experience
