Skelton Grange provision, maintenance and improvement 2025

The provision, maintenance and improvement of a non profit making public park and environmental community centre at Skelton Grange, Leeds in the vicinity of the Yorkshire Water Services Ltd landfill site at Knostrop STW, Knowsthorpe Lane, Leeds LS9 0PJ.

This project will make the environment of this valued community recreational resource more pleasant, and improve access for the thousands of people of all ages from across Leeds who use the site each year. Maintaining and improving the centre’s riverside woodland, ponds, meadows & hedgerows engage volunteers and visitors through outdoor play & learning, conservation volunteering, health walks and nature trails, gardening and traditional crafts for all ages.

The primary focus of this project is to enhance the recreational value of the Skelton Grange site for visitors. However we do propose to maintain meadows, ponds woodland and hedgerows for visitors to enjoy, and ensure safe visitor access. Paths and trails will guide visitors away from more sensitive habitats, and interpretation educates people on local species and habitats. These works will be undertaken by teams skilled in conservation practice so we anticipate significant net benefit to the natural environment.
