Skipsea Church, East Yorkshire – Preservation of Grade 1 Listed Church

The project will address the outstanding and overdue repairs to this ancient Church. The porch has structural movement needing pointing with lime mortar. The same applies to the south aisle, stone blocks at the base are loose. Stone eroded in the chancel, fractures in the mullions, removal of cement pointing and replace with lime mortar. The vestry has significant displacement above the East doorway and an outward lean to the North wall. The West end window is open jointed and further erosion is making the window vulnerable. Scaffolding is needed for the tower, many of the sandstone blocks are heavily eroded which if not addressed these can become porous and accelerate erosion. Some of the pinnacles are cracked. Access the aisle and roof to inspect and test stability of all pinnacles.
