Skipton Woods Access Improvements

The woods are within the grounds of Skipton Castle and are well used by approx 10,000 visitors a year. The continued usage plus natural erosion caused by flooding and poor drainage has resulted in the footpaths becoming damaged and at times inaccessible. This project will rebuild the lower footpath which has been partially swept away by the river, surface the upper footpath which is just a muddy track which becomes difficullt to access during wet weather, and replace the linking eroded and sunken steps with a graduating slope that will make access easier for all abilities. Interpretation boards and improved way marking will also be designed and installed as part of this project
