Slievenacloy Fencing

The objectives are as follows:
• Complete installation of fencing and gates works at Slievenacloy Reserve by 31st December 2025 to ensure that the species rich grassland and heathland habitats can be adequately grazed / meet health & safety requirements for visitors.
• Ensure all works comply with ASSI regulations and no unnecessary damage is done to the site.
and requires replacement.
Ulster Wildlife have received funding for fencing works and the installation of gates to ensure continuity of grazing and meet health and safety and animal welfare standards.

The project will be:
• Removal of approximately 2082m of old fence
• Erection of approximately 2082m of new fence to DAERA EFS specifications.
• Erection of 1 new gate.
• All waste materials (including the old fence-line material and any associated cut scrub, hedging or trees), arising from the work must be removed from the site and disposed of by the contractor at their own cost.

This is necessary to achieve conservation grazing outcomes on the purple moor-grass and rush pasture grassland (a NI Priority Habitat). The grazing contributes to the conservation of ground-nesting birds and species-rich grassland flora, such as orchids, including several NI Priority Species (NIPS).
