Slough Fort, Rochester - Landscaping and Access Improvements (006459)

This project will landscape the area around Slough Fort to improve public access by creating new footpaths, putting in safety fencing and gates, information panels seating and picnic benches. It will transform a very neglected area that has until recently been used as horse grazing and in effect an unofficial rubbish dump, through regrading the area, removing rubbish, clearing scrub and tree stumps to create natural meadow along with some selective tree planting. The project will clear out blocked ditches, reform banks and create viewing areas for visitors, in what is currently a very restricted site due to safety aspects which this project will overcome.
