Smardale Gill habitat improvements for wildlife

The aim of the project are to:
1) maintain and enhance the species rich grassland – this will be done by clearing scrub to keep areas of permanent open grassland, maintaining a wildlife corridore of diverse haymeadow species (partic important for the rare Scotch argus butterfly, which is only found at one other site in England).
2) maintain and enhance the area of ancient woodland and the delivate ground fauna
