Smugglers Paths – Dundonald to Troon

The application is to enable the Smugglers Path to be completed for a 450 Mtr. section of a field. The original cost was increased due to change of heart by local authority in that VAT became payable and also change of original route had permission withdrawn. Mr Benson has given written permission for his land. No restrictions on the paths which join Dundonald and Troon via Loans, 8.5 miles. Brochures and signage informs of the paths and have been made available in Tourist Info Centres, now require updates. Orginal path, Dundonald to Loans, in partnership with DART, a European group, who gave to Scotland Walking. Route is advertised in Germany and also in Eire who are the other two partners from the initial scheme. Press coverage on completion of the final phase and coverage on the South Ayrshire Council Web. Path to be adopted as Core Path. Path to be disabled friendly, Whinstone and fenced for safety. Remainder complete.
