Projects / Snape Marshes Nature Reserve

Snape Marshes Nature Reserve

The project seeks support for the acquisition and restoration of Snape Marshes to create a new nature reserve for Suffolk. We envisage the reserve will be used by around 10,000 visitors per year. Coastal and Floodplain Grazing Marsh is a UKBAP and Suffolk Biodiversity Action Plan habitat. The project will be to restore 20ha of grazing marsh which is 10% of the county 2018 target. The value of Snape Marshes as a nature reserve is enhanced by its location alongside the Alde-Ore Estuary Site of Scientific Interest. In time we hope the SSSI will be extended to include the reserve.
