Snow Island Town Centre site

Our overall aim is to promote and develop the River Colne catchment and surrounding areas as a recreational, cultural and environmental resource for the whole community. With this particular project we will be creating: -A defined stone-surfaced off-road route - suitable for wheelchair access - through Snow Island from Kings Mill Lane to Firth Street, and utilising the existing footbridge; -Installing 2 picnic tables (one with wheelchair access) and 2 benches at Snow Island; -2 features gateways to Snow Island with community-designed artwork; -A wildflower meadow at Snow Island alongside the new route; -A new, branded gateway to the Riverside Way and river viewing area at Kingsbridge including 2 flights of steps (predominantly using recycled plastic for longevity and minimal maintenance), railings and signage (giving alternative access route for wheelchair users). This work will result in the establishment of a significant riverside amenity area convenient for many local residents and students.
