Snows Farm Grazing Project

Snows Farm Nature Reserve lies in the upper end of Slad Valley to the north-east of Stroud. The reserve comprises unimproved limestone grassland and ancient woodland. Management is aimed at grazing the grassland with the Trust’s small flock of Hebridean sheep. Scrub control is a major factor to the condition of the grassland and is controlled using the sheep. A long term aim is to get the reserve grazed with cattle. A second water supply in the top compartments of the reserve will allow better control of grazing. The woodland is coppiced and thinned. Footpaths across the site are to be kept open and safe.
