Replacement of the main sports hall floor at Ross Peers Sports Centre in Soham. The floor suffered considerably during the period when the roof was leaking. Now that the roof has been replaced the floor has dried out and extensively shrunk, while the surface is very worn and uneven. The floor has been sanded and re-sealed several times in the past but this is no longer viable and full replacement is the best long term solution. The new floor has an expected lifetime of greater than 50 years.
The key work steps are: Removal of existing wooden floor, install new wooden floor, seal, carry out line marking and final seal, and add skirting around edges.
The hall is used by the local school during term time for sport and for public club sessions/classes in the evenings, holidays and weekends. The building hosts sports and activities for all ages and has spaces available to hire for family parties or events.
