South Efford Marsh

South Efford Marsh is found on the east bank of the River Avon in South Devon. A tidal sluice was installed at the southern end of the site to allow controlled flooding of the marsh by the incoming tide and lead to the gradual reversion of the lower reaches of this site back to wildlife-rich saltmarsh habitat. Devon Wildlife Trust took on management responsibility for this site once these installation works were completed in 2011. The marshes are best managed through low-level grazing, and our first task is to fence the site to allow controlled grazing over different areas of the reserve.
