South Leeds Green Infrastructure Corridor – Phase 1

A 450m Elm avenue will be established along an existing bridleway. Safety fencing will be constructed around two leachate ponds (300m post and rail) and improved access controls at the main site entrance will ensure more use of the site and security from anti social behaviour. A 0.41 hectare community Orchard with 182 trees of local provenance will be established and maintained as a traditional orchard on part of the site, surrounded by a 350m hedgerow and fence. A surfaced circuit path (250m) with interpretation, an access gate and 2 kissing gates will improve navigation and movement for all abilities. Events to promote community engagement and ongoing site care will be undertaken throughout the project.

The project will take place at East Ardsley Fall, a site north-east of the village of East Ardsley alongside the Leeds – Wakefield railway line.

This is the first site of a wider, strategic scheme which will eventually cover 11 sites across south Leeds.
