South Swindon Parish Council Water Bottle Filling Station and Taps

We will install a 110 metre water pipe across the park that will start at the parish council depo and run out to three locations where we will install 2 x gardeners taps and 1 x public freshwater bottle filling station.

The trench for the pipe will need to be 750mm deep and after the pipe is laid, it will be covered in sand and marker tape and then buried again, ensuring the grass surface is repaired to a high and safe standard.

The pipe also needs to pass through nearly 25m of tarmac. This will need to be cut out and then repaired again at the end.
We have received hundreds of requests from the general public for an availability of fresh water across our parks. With the weather becoming warmer each year, this demand is growing. The requests from the general public have been received via email to our office or via our social media channels. Our parks team also get asked verbally, especially when it is hot. The flowers in our park suffer due to the dry summers.
We will be providing fresh water for the general public to drink. The park is busy and we will be able to monitor how much water is being used because we are also installing a meter onto the pipe that will only be feeding the water bottle filling station. The gardeners taps will not be metered.

Also, our flower displays will be far bigger and better once the gardeners can have water to water the flowers. It will enable us to be more ambitious with our planting.
