Projects / Southern Pennines Grassland Project

Southern Pennines Grassland Project

1. To engage the owners and/or site managers of neglected or unsympathetically-managed species-rich grassland within the Southern Pennines National Character Area, in the positive management of their landholding(s) that support the lowland meadow BAP habitat. 2. To buffer and expand the species-rich grassland sites by the creation of new species-rich grassland on adjacent fields, or on land in between existing sites, ideally using green hay from an existing site, otherwise using a suitable wildflower seed mix. 3. To raise awareness of species-rich grassland in the South Pennines to landowners, residents and visitors through events and training courses in grassland survey, practical work and monitoring.
