Southowram Community Centre

Southowram is one of the most isolated hilltop townships in Calderdale. Although close to Halifax, it is 2 miles steeply downhill in every direction. It has retained a full range of facilities (Post Office, library, grocery etc ), but community buildings and public transport are limited. The site is an allocated Open Area (1ha, grass) surrounded by houses close to shops in the village centre, ie well-related to the community. To the southern end of the site is the run down single storey Community Centre bounded by a public footpath. In its 25th year, local Police, Councillors and young people are working hard to secure its future
